Birkenstock is this German brand that makes sandals. That’s basically their whole thing. They make sandals and they’ve been making them for like 200+ years.
The sandals are famous for the arch support. Like that’s their whole marketing thing. Maximum arch support. Podiatrist approved. All that.
What they sell is sandals. Different styles, different colors, different materials. But mainly sandals. Basically every sandal style you can imagine.
The popular styles are the Arizona (two-strap sandal) and the Boston (closed shoe style). Those are what everyone buys.
Sizing is normal EU sizing and they run true to size. I wear 39 and 39 fits fine. The width is normal.
Comfort is the thing everyone talks about. Arch support is REAL. Like you actually feel your arch being supported. That’s not fake. It’s actual.
The footbed is firm though. Not soft. Firm. Like your foot is sitting on a structured surface. That’s by design.
First wear they feel weird. Your foot is used to flat flimsy sandals so structured support feels strange. But after like a week of wearing them your feet are like “oh this is nice actually.”
Break-in period is definitely real. Like first week is kind of uncomfortable as your feet adjust. But after that they’re great.
Quality is excellent. The materials are good. The construction is solid. These sandals last forever. Like people wear the same pair for decades literally.
Price is like €80-120 depending on the style. So not cheap but not luxury either.
The thing is Birkenstocks are an investment. You buy them once and they last. So even though the upfront cost is higher, cost per wear over time is actually good.

Who should skip: if you care a lot about looking trendy skip them. If you hate the look of structured sandals skip them. If you want soft comfortable-from-day-one sandals look elsewhere.
Here’s my honest take: Birkenstock sandals are legitimately good. The arch support is real. They last forever.
The downside is they look functional. They don’t look cute or trendy. They look like orthopedic sandals which is basically what they are.
But if you can accept the aesthetics, they’re actually amazing sandals.
Are they worth €100+? For the longevity and comfort yeah. You’re wearing them for years so cost per wear is good.
The break-in period sucks but it’s temporary.
