Privacy Policy

Running a website comes with responsibilities — and one of the biggest is being upfront about how we handle your data. This page lays out exactly what information Reviews Tale collects, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We've kept the language as plain as possible because legal jargon helps no one.

If something here raises a question, our contact page is always open.

Who We Are

Reviews Tale is a product review and lifestyle content website operating at reviewstale.com. We cover categories ranging from beauty and fashion to sports, tech, home living, and beyond. Our content is built around honest opinions and practical recommendations — that's the whole point of this site.

What Information We Collect

Things You Give Us Directly

There are a few situations where you might hand us your information voluntarily:

  • Signing up for our email newsletter — we store your name and email address
  • Leaving a comment on an article — we collect your name, email, and whatever you write
  • Filling out our contact form — your name, email, and message are stored temporarily
  • Submitting a guest post pitch or writing application

We don't ask for anything we don't need. No phone numbers, no payment details, no date of birth.

Things Collected Automatically

Like virtually every website on the internet, Reviews Tale collects some basic technical data when you visit. This happens through cookies and standard server logs and includes:

  • Your IP address (usually anonymized)
  • The browser and device you're using
  • Which pages you visit and in what order
  • How long you spend on each page
  • The website that sent you here (the referrer)
  • Clicks on links, including affiliate links

None of this is tied to your name or identity unless you've signed in or submitted a form.

Data That Comes Through Affiliate Networks

Reviews Tale earns money through affiliate marketing. We work with two major affiliate networks — Impact and Awin — and both platforms use cookies to track whether a purchase was made after someone clicked a link on our site.

When you click an affiliate link on Reviews Tale, a small tracking cookie gets placed in your browser. That cookie tells Impact or Awin that the click came from us, so we get credited if you go on to buy something. The cookie doesn't collect your name or payment details — it's just a referral identifier.

Impact and Awin are independent companies with their own privacy policies. You can read them here:

Why We Use Your Information

The data we collect gets used for a handful of specific things:

  • Sending newsletters to people who signed up for them (and only those people)
  • Replying to messages sent through our contact form
  • Understanding which articles are useful and which ones aren't, so we can improve
  • Tracking affiliate link performance through Impact and Awin so we know our recommendations are working
  • Keeping the site secure and identifying unusual traffic patterns

We don't use your data to build advertising profiles or sell to other companies. That's not our business model.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. Here are the main types we use:

  • Analytics cookies — placed by Google Analytics to track page views and visitor behavior in aggregate. These are the _ga and _gid cookies you'll see in most browser tools.
  • Affiliate tracking cookies — placed when you click an Impact or Awin affiliate link. These exist solely to record the referral and expire after a set period (usually 30 days).
  • Functional cookies — used by WordPress to keep the site working properly, especially for comment forms and login sessions.

You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. The site will still work, though affiliate tracking won't function if cookies are disabled — which means we won't earn a commission on purchases you make after clicking our links.

Third-Party Tools We Use

A few outside services run on this site, each with their own data practices:

  • Google Analytics — tells us how many people visit, what they read, and where they come from
  • Impact — manages affiliate partnerships and tracks referral conversions
  • Awin — manages affiliate partnerships and tracks referral conversions
  • WordPress / Elementor — powers the website itself
  • Facebook and Instagram — social sharing buttons may load tracking scripts from these platforms

Do We Share Your Data?

The short answer is: not really, and never for profit.

The only situations where your data goes anywhere are:

  • Affiliate networks — Impact and Awin receive click and conversion signals as part of normal affiliate operations
  • Email service providers — if you've subscribed to our newsletter, your email is stored with our mailing platform
  • Legal requirements — if a court or government authority requires us to hand over data, we comply with the law
  • Business changes — if Reviews Tale were ever acquired or merged with another company, data would transfer as part of that process

We don't sell email lists. We don't sell browsing data. We don't share anything with advertisers beyond the affiliate click signals that Impact and Awin handle automatically.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you have certain rights over your personal data. These include the right to see what we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to withdraw your consent for newsletter emails at any time. Every newsletter we send has an unsubscribe link — use it whenever you want.

For any data-related request, email us at contact@reviewstale.com and we'll sort it out promptly.

Children

Reviews Tale is not intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through our site, please contact us and we'll remove it immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We update this page when something changes — whether that's a new tool we've started using or a shift in how we operate. The date at the top of the page will always reflect the most recent revision. If the changes are significant, we'll mention it on the site.
